God wants us to give thanks in all circumstances so we should include thanksgiving
also in our prayers.

So when we come before God, we must be thankful.
God is always good to us and he is always working in our lives so we need
to respond to he by letting him know that we are thankful.
God has emotions...so like when your children thank you for something spontaneously
it feels good. So even God is moved when we thank him!
Giving thanks in everything also means to be aware of all the everyday blessings
God gives us: our health, our food, our freedom, our home or the people God has put in our lives...
So during our prayer time it's important to give thanks to God because it's something
God responds to. God loves to hear us saying "Thank you"! And by giving thanks
our intimacy with Him increases- and that of course makes our prayer life better!
